Best Third-Place Teams at World Cup 2026
A 48-team format with twelve groups creates twelve third-place teams. Only eight can move into a 32-team knockout phase, so third-place qualification has to be handled as a cross-group decision.
In a results-based table
If every match score is known, third-place teams can be ranked by points and tie-breakers. That is useful for official standings, but it creates a lot of manual work for a casual simulator.
In this sandbox
The third-place pool is interactive. After arranging the groups, you can select exactly eight third-place teams. The bracket updates immediately, so the interaction stays closer to a scenario builder than a spreadsheet.
Auto 8
The Auto 8 button fills the pool using the current neutral ratings. It is a fast starting point, not an official prediction. You can clear the pool and make your own picks at any time.
